SPRING OVERVIEW

The DYSA Spring Soccer program is affiliated with the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL) of MA. Schedules and results can be found at the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL) website provided here: http://www.scsl.org/.

This is a competitive travel team league.  These teams travel to and compete against other area teams from the  SCSL, which is made up of 21 different towns or groupings of towns in Southeastern MA., Cape Cod, and Islands.  The age groups the league sponsors are U8 - U19 boys and girls.  Only children at least 7 years old by August 1st of the previous year are old enough to play in the Spring Program. See the Age Brackets section for details on each age group for this year. Games are generally played on a Saturday or Sunday, depending on the division. Most age groups have multiple divisions except U8.

Sign-ups are held during the Fall Soccer season for both players and coaches who are interested in participating in the spring season.  Open tryouts are held in mid to late OCTOBER, during which coaches rate and choose players for each team in each division.  Players are assigned to teams and divisions according to coaches ratings.  DYSA tries to place each child on a team but making a team is not guaranteed.

The spring season generally starts the first week in April. All Division 1 teams from U11 upward have a chance to compete in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC)  at the end of the season which is held the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association ( MYSA) in late June. These tournament participants are the championship (and some wild card) teams from each 1st Division of 10 Massachusetts leagues participating in the state tournament. The MYSA website www.mayouthsoccer.com. Friendship tournaments for U8-U10 may be held at the end of the season

Once a player has been selected to play on a spring team, each coach will meet with their team to complete the registration process, which includes:

  • collecting the spring fee,
  • filling in registration forms,
  • collecting required medical forms,
  • deciding on uniform sizes and needs,
  • completing pass card requirements (picture of player required),
  • recruiting a team manager,
  • discussing rules

Once again this is a competitive league environment and should be treated as such.
